I started out in photography as a graphic designer. As someone who LOVED art, and things that were dark, uncommon, different, awe inspiring. I found beauty in things that were avante guard and unique. I started shooting photos because I wanted to create art, and now I’m blessed to do it for a living. Part of what I do is pull inspiration from other artists, designers, photographers around me, and this week I had a chance to work with one of my favorite models, and collaborate to pay homage to one of our favorite artists – Brian Viveros. (www.brianmviveros.com)

“Mysterious sexy women, with their remarkable sensual eyes, and a cigarette in the corner of their mouths, became his trademark. These characters play their lustful roles, sprouted from the brain of the American artist Brian Viveros. His art is a unique mixture of different visual and artistic concepts, surrealism, role playing and some quite heavy pain fantasies. Like the ones where the women are hooked, tortured and bound, but somehow, even in these morbid scenes, he is capable of maintaining a decent dose of humor.”

Model Brittni Lynn and I put our own take on his art in a respectful homage to his work. It of course is not a direct copy, nor were we trying to, but we pulled the most beautiful pieces of his art out and applied it to our photo shoot. I really could not be happier with the results. It gave both Brittni and I  chance to push ourselves artistically into a new area, and to me, that is truly what art is all about – pushing the limits of creativity.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do. I did not even watermark them because it would ruin the integrity of the images. If anyone would like copies of these images for print, please let me know. kristentylerphoto@gmail.com

ENGAGEMENT SESSION | Karly + Tom

Posted on December 8, 2010

My best friend Karly happens to be stunningly gorgeous. She also happens to have fallen in love with an adoring, handsome cowboy type, and wanted some beautiful Christmas photos provided by ME!! Karly and I have been friends for almost 5 years now, and sometimes I don’t even know where I’d be without her advice, and unconditional love. I feel so blessed to have her in my life, and so grateful that she trusts me to take the photos that mean the most to her! I’m so so happy that she’s found someone who loves her for the amazing woman she is, and wants to give her the world, because she CERTAINLY deserves it!  xoxo
